Q. If I’m over 60, am I entitled to a free eye test at home?

Yes, if you unable to leave home without help or assistance to get to a high street optician.

Q. Can I get free glasses?

Yes, there are free glasses available for individuals who qualify for a NHS optical voucher.

Q. Is the eye test the same as in a store?

Yes. The test conducted will be comprehensive and tailored to your needs just as you would expect to find in any High Street practice, using portable equipment.

Q. How will I know who the Optician is?

You will be called on the day prior to the appointment by the optician informing you of their arrival. The optician will have photo ID and will have been CRB checked and registered with both the General Optical Council (GOC) and your local Primary Care Trust.

Q. I’m not due an eye test can I still request a free test?

Yes, if you feel your vision has changed, if you are having any new symptoms, or if a medical practitioner has you told you to have a sight test.

Q. Will I be able to choose glasses?

Yes the Optician will have A great range of free NHS glasses (including bifocals) for those who are eligible (see NHS Eligibility) in addition to the many budget & designer styles.
